THE END WE START FROM (OV)
As a devastating flood engulfs London, a young woman gives birth to her first child. Amid chaos, evacuation, and the collapse of familiar structures, she must learn to care for herself and her newborn, and find a way through a world that no longer exists as she knew it. The film powerfully portrays how motherhood, caregiving, and sheer survival take on existential weight when the climate crisis destroys everyday life.
Afterwards, we will speak with experts from science and practice about the health impacts of the climate crisis, and about the current situation here in Germany: How are the frequency and severity of extreme weather events such as floods changing, and what does that mean for our health? How well prepared are we for such crises? How can the health situation after a disaster be assessed early on, for instance by detecting disease outbreaks or emerging risks? And how are the climate crisis and its health consequences discussed in the media and by the public?
Please note: The film will be screened in its original English version (OV). The discussion afterwards will be held in German.
