CALL JANE

In the conservative USA of the 1960s, Joy experiences first hand what the legal ban on abortions means. Although Joy's pregnancy poses a serious threat to her own life, doctors refuse to perform the termination. By chance, Joy comes across the “Janes” – an underground organization that gives women like Joy back control over their own decisions. The film is based on the true story of the courageous “Janes.”

After the film, we will talk to experts from academia and practice about women's health and the current situation here in Germany. Do women have a right to self-determination? What about access to information? And what impact does all this have on women's physical and mental health?
